RangeX Pro Manual

General Information

Our BNFs are no toys. Please be aware of injury. Do not plug in the battery when on the bench unless propellers are removed or a smokestopper is used.

The RangeX Pro features INAV as its flight controller software which allows better GPS features such as reliable RTH and position hold. Although reasonable close, pure acro flying is not as good as it is with Betaflight. For Long Range missions this is a minor drawback and you'll get used to the INAV 'feeling' very soon.

After the first successful flights, it is recommended to check all screws on the drone and retighten if necessary. Due to vibrations from the motors it is recommended to check the screws after each few flights to ensure permanent reliability of the drone.

If you have bought your BNFs together with the InstantFly Kit, all the procedures mentioned below have been taken care of already. It is however a good idea to read through the process for a general understanding of procedures and optional changes to tailor the drone to your personal preferences! Our settings will provide a good start for beginners as well as experienced pilots for cinematic flying.

Open and close the canopy

Best to follow this procedure in case you need to open the canopy:

  1. remove 4 horizontal screws, 2 on each side
  2. remove 1 vertical screw in the back
  3. gently lift the canopy upwards and make sure the antenna is fed through the hole in the canopy
  4. remove the small antenna “plug” from the SMA connector

and the following procedure in case you need to close it again:

  1. gently put the canopy on the drone and make sure the antenna is fed through the hole.
  2. check fitting on all sides. Double-check the motor and immortal T antenna wire to make sure they are fittet nicely into the slots.
  3. add 1 vertical screw in the back
  4. add 4 horizontal screws, 2 on each side
  5. push in the small antenna “plug” for the SMA connector

Binding your Remote Controller

TBS Crossfire

Your RangeX Pro receiver comes in bind mode already, so you dont actually have to find the button on your drone. In either case, the full procedure is the following:

  1. Turn on your transmitter
  2. Enter Bind mode on your transmitter
  3. Power up the receiver on the drone. Depending on the model USB power might suffice, otherwise you need to connect the Battery. Only do this with propellers removed.
  4. Press the bind button on the Crossfire receiver (check picture below for button location). This needs to be done within 20s after powering the RX.
  5. Confirm bind procedure on your TX.

Depending on the transmitter used, the channel mapping needs to be adapted. This setting can be found in the receiver tab (check picture below). Changing from TAER to AETR or vice versa is usually enough. Make sure the channels on the left side align with your stick axis.

Binding your DJI Goggle

  1. Turn on your DJI Goggle
  2. Connect the battery to your BNF model. Only do this with props removed or a smokestopper.
  3. Wait until the green LED appears on the DJI VTX.
  4. Press the red button on your DJI Goggle twice. It should beep twice every second.
  5. Press the button on the DJI VTX. The goggle confirms the binding by beeping twice.

Change Flight Modes

The Stock configuration of our BNFs is made for TBS Tango 2 with the following switch assignments.

If you want to change the function of the buttons on your remote controller you need to assign AUX channels to each flight mode. This can be done within Betaflight.

  1. Connect the drone via USB port of the flight controller to your computer
  2. launch INAV configurator
  3. Connect to the correspondent port
  4. Navigate to “Modes” tab
  5. Choose AUTO for the mode in question and press the corresponding button on your TX
  6. Dont forget to hit save!

IMPORTANT

For all models that support GPS rescue: The GPS rescue should not be activated if you are within 100m of the starting point. If the drone is within 100m radius of the starting point and GPS rescue is activated, the drone will drop form the sky. Only activate GPS Rescue manually if the drone is more than 100m away from its starting point.

Change Rates

Rates affect the flight feel and determine the maximum speed of rotation around each axis for your drone. Our presets allow smooth and cinematic flight, but it is a good idea to experiment with the rates on order to find your personal settings.

  1. Connect the drone via USB port of the flight controller to your computer
  2. launch Betaflight configurator
  3. Connect to the correspondent port
  4. Navigate to “PID” tab
  5. Swap to “Rateprofile settings” tab
  6. Adapt the parameters to your needs
  7. Dont forget to hit save!
