OmniX User Manual
OmniX is a compact 2.5-inch FPV quadcopter with an integrated naked GoPro MAX2 for 360° filming. The camera captures the full scene so you can choose the framing later.
The BNF version is supplied with a preconfigured and test-flown flight controller, tune, OSD and telemetry. It is available with either an ELRS or TBS Crossfire receiver. Check which receiver is installed before following the binding instructions. See the OmniX BNF product page for the published configuration.
OmniX has full acro mode. Fly only in a suitable area and in accordance with local rules. Optional equipment and the battery affect take-off weight, so check the weight and rules for your exact setup.
Safety
Keep people, animals and loose objects clear of the flight area. Never fly toward or over people.
Remove all propellers before bench setup, configuration or troubleshooting. Disconnect the battery before handling propellers, motors, wiring or the camera ribbon.
Inspect the battery, frame, motors, propellers, camera and wiring before each flight. Do not fly with damaged or loose components.
Follow the battery manufacturer's instructions for charging and storage. Do not charge a damaged or swollen battery.
Before the First Flight
Bind the Radio Controller
The binding steps depend on the installed receiver. Remove the propellers before powering the drone for setup.
ELRS Receiver
We recommend binding with a matching binding phrase on the transmitter and receiver. With the transmitter on and the correct model selected, power the OmniX and wait for the receiver to connect. If it does not connect, check that both devices use the same phrase and compatible ELRS firmware. See the ExpressLRS binding and compatibility guide.
TBS Crossfire Receiver
Turn on the transmitter and select the correct model.
Start Bind from the Crossfire transmitter menu (Agent Lite / Crossfire TX / Bind, or the equivalent menu on your radio).
Power the OmniX from its flight battery. Within 20 seconds, press the bind button on the Crossfire receiver or hit the Bind button in betaflight receiver tab.
If prompted, allow the receiver firmware update to complete. Confirm that the transmitter reports a link before proceeding.
See the TBS Crossfire manual for radio-specific menu instructions.
After binding, check in the flight-controller configurator that the receiver is detected and that the sticks and switches respond correctly. Keep the propellers removed.
Bind the DJI Goggles
OmniX BNF uses a naked DJI O4 Pro. Keep the propellers removed while powering the drone on the bench.
Turn on the goggles and power the OmniX.
If the goggles show a device selection, select the OmniX Air Unit.
Press the link button on the O4 Pro. Its status light should blink red.
Start linking mode in the goggles. They will beep while linking.
Binding is complete when the O4 Pro status light turns solid green and live video appears in the goggles.
For goggles-specific steps, see the DJI O4 Air Unit binding guide.
Check Channel Mapping and Flight Modes
Use the configurator that matches the flight-controller firmware installed on your OmniX. The BNF comes with a preset tune; do not change PID or tune settings during this setup.
Channel Mapping
Connect the OmniX to your computer by USB and open the flight-controller configurator.
Open the Receiver tab and turn on the transmitter.
Move one stick axis at a time. Check that roll, pitch, throttle and yaw respond on the matching bars and move in the correct direction.
If the axes appear on the wrong bars, change the channel map to match your transmitter's channel order (for example, AETR or TAER).
Move each switch you plan to use and confirm that it changes an AUX channel.
Save the changes, reconnect and check the mapping again.
Flight Modes
Open the Modes tab and review the current assignments before changing anything.
Confirm that ARM is assigned to the intended switch and that its indicator changes as you move the switch.
Check any other configured modes. Assign them to switches only if you plan to use them and they are supported by the installed firmware and sensors.
Save the changes, reconnect and verify the mode indicators with the propellers removed.
Acro is the default flight mode when no self-level mode is active. Do not arm the drone on the bench.
Prepare the GoPro MAX2
The naked MAX2 is powered through the supplied MAX2 BEC and ribbon. The camera's On and Rec buttons are accessible when installed in OmniX.
Connect the flight battery with the propellers removed.
Press the camera's On button once to power it on. See the button locations below.
Check that the microSD card is installed and has enough free space.
Check both lens surfaces for dust, fingerprints, scratches or damage.
To use QR controls, first install the MAX2 version of
GoPro Labs firmware. Copy the firmware files to the microSD card as described by GoPro, then power on the camera and let the update finish.
Open the GoPro Labs QR Control app or
QR generator, choose the MAX2-supported settings, and display the generated code on a phone or computer. Point a camera lens at the code until the camera confirms the scan.
Press Rec once to start recording. The red LED on the BEC flashes to confirm recording. Press Rec again to stop recording.
For clean 360° stitching, keep at least 1 m between the camera and nearby objects. Indoor filming is not recommended because close objects can create stitching artifacts.
Make a short test recording before the first flight and check that the footage can be read.
If a lens protector is scratched or damaged, twist it off and replace it. Make sure the replacement is fully seated before flying.
Battery and Power
Use a compatible 4S battery. Tattu LiHV 4S batteries from 550–850 mAh are recommended, with maximum dimensions of 75 × 23 × 17 mm. A 650 mAh battery typically provides about 4–5 minutes of cruising flight. Optional equipment changes the take-off weight and flight time.
Secure the battery so it cannot move or contact the propellers.
Connect the battery only when ready to fly, with the drone on a clear surface and the propellers unobstructed.
The naked O4 Pro heats up quickly while powered and stationary. Airflow during flight cools it; on the ground, it may shut down to protect itself.
Disconnect the battery immediately after landing.
First Flight
Pre-flight Checklist
The flying area is clear, suitable and permitted for the aircraft and camera.
The weather and visibility are suitable.
The frame, screws, motors, propellers, antennas and camera mounts are secure and undamaged.
The battery is compatible, charged and firmly attached.
The radio link and video feed are working, and the correct model is selected on the transmitter.
The camera has free card space, a clear lens and is recording.
Maintain at least 1 m from nearby objects when recording 360° footage.
Arming and Take-off
Place the drone on a level, clear surface with the camera lenses unobstructed.
Turn on the goggles and transmitter before connecting the flight battery.
Wait for the flight controller, receiver, video link and camera to finish starting up.
Start recording and confirm the recording indicator.
Arm using the assigned transmitter control only when the area is clear.
Take off smoothly and check that the drone responds normally before moving away.
In Flight
OmniX is a manually flown FPV drone with full acro mode. Stay within your skill level, maintain visual line of sight as required, and keep a safe distance from people, animals, vehicles and obstacles. Plan to land with battery reserve. Flight time varies with battery condition, flying style, wind and payload.
Landing and Shutdown
Land before the battery reaches the configured low-voltage limit.
If landing on a soft surface (such as a pillow) to protect the camera, disarm immediately and wait for the propellers to stop before handling the drone.
Stop recording and allow the camera to finish saving the clip.
Disconnect the flight battery before picking up or handling the drone.
Check the battery, propellers, frame, motors, mounts and camera after each flight. Do not fly again if anything is damaged or unusually hot.
Maintenance
After Every Flight
Inspect propellers for chips, cracks or deformation. Replace damaged propellers before flying again.
Check the frame and motor screws for looseness, especially after a crash or hard landing.
Inspect the MAX2 lenses, O4 camera, soft mounts, ribbon and antenna mounts.
Back up footage and confirm that recordings are complete before formatting the card.
Camera Lens Care
If a MAX2 lens protector is scratched or damaged, replace it by twisting it off and fitting a new one. Check that the replacement is fully attached before flying.
